David's Photography and an Update

Some if you may remember way back this fall when I did a give away for my Blogaversary. Since then David has expanded his Etsy shop quite a bit (I find it quite impressive, but I have a bit of bias), and today only is being featured on Wozofoto (with the photo above).

This is a website that chooses an indie photographer and sells one of their photos at a discount for 24 hours. Following that 24hours they make the photograph available in their archive at regular price.

So please, check out Wozofoto and also have a look around David's shop - there are quite a few new photos.

Olympic Update: I'm done. Hahaha. Yup, yesterday I finished, blocked, and wore my Olympic Dawn. I have a few things to say and some photos to share. All that just to build some anticipation for my next post - soon to come!

A Few Bits of Business

I have been featured, hooray! Go on and check it out - Moodwax. But be sure to come back and finish reading this post!

Also, I was just blog tagged by MandyMoo so please check out her blog and here are my seven random facts if you didn't get them the first time around: I've Been Tagged.

I have received my new niddy noddy and my new nostepinne, but alas as always I have not taken a photo other than with my newly posted yarn. But let me share with you the lovely story.

Recently I had spoken with a couple of fiber friends who mentioned they had a friend who may be willing to make me these lovely wooden tools. Then one day I got an email from them saying the niddy noddy and the nostepinne were done, but we never negotiated a price or anything! As I read on in the email I learned that the gentleman who made these only asked for a cherry pie in return. My heart soared, what a blessing! So this Saturday we met up at traded my lovely walnut niddy noddy and nostepinne for my homemade cherry pie. I don't make fruit pies very often, but I hope the pie was delicious!

If you don't know what those items are just do a quick search for them on Etsy.com. A niddy noddy is used to unwrap newly spun yarn off a spindle and a nostepinne is used to hand wind a center pull ball of yarn.

Introducing HiloVerde

It's time welcome a new seller to Etsy HiloVerde! This shop has already been featured on the front page so you know the items are fabulous. These are the beautiful convertible mittens that were featured.

The designer of the shop, Claire, is actually my fellow volunteer, yarn stalker, and thrift shopper. We both moved to this valley in the fall and have been knitting away ever since.

Claire's shop has a specific focus on being mindful of the our impact on the earth. Whenever possible she strives to use natural fibers or upcycled fibers. To find out more about this check out her profile.

Come on now, who would like to be her first sale? Have fun shopping!

CRAFTY beautiful recycled yarns

That's right folks the picture on the right is the original sweater and the left is the beautiful yarn that you have the opportunity purchase! How many unwanted and ugly sweaters have you seen in the thrift store? Well, craftyyarn takes those high quality sweaters, unravels them, washes them up, and offers them to you and your creativeness in her shop CRAFTY - beautiful recycled yarns.

Here is a little bit about craftyyarn from her bio: "I live in Leucadia, California and am an architect by day. I'm a knitter and am fascinated with anything recycled, reclaimed, salvaged or found. To me, being crafty means taking second-hand stuff and making something out of it that only a small-scale, low-tech crafter could. When I finish recycling a sweater, I've had fun creating something and have made something that another crafter can enjoy working with too."

Enjoy shopping AND recycling!

VerreEncore

Good day everyone, tomorrow I shall share with you the arm warmers (which have sorta changed), but today I want to share with you VerreEncore. This fabulous shop is the home of one-of-a-kind enamel jewelery. Lynsey's pendant's will make you drool. The colors are brilliant and the designs are beautiful and modern.

I asked Lynsey how she got into this this art form and this is what she shared... "I've been enameling for a little under a year now. I took classes in metal smithing and enameling, and was hooked. The colors and designs I was able to create were so unique, and there's a lot of history behind the medium, which are my main attractions to enamels."

Currently you can find VerreEncore enamel jewelry on Etsy and beginning today it will be available at Impulse, a boutique in Chillicothe, Illinois. Lynsey will be posting new pendants frequently in the coming weeks so keep checking in! Have fun shopping!

HOBBLEDEHOY

This shop is MUST visit for any knitter, crocheter, spinner, dyer - does that cover it? Hobbledehoy is a fabulous shop of hand-spun yarns, spinning fibers, and hand dyed yarns. I have found much inspiration in this shop and I hope to one day venture into the world of spinning, and this shop will be my second stop (first stop is getting a drop spindle). Please take a moment to check out Liz's great shop and you'll find just the yarn you need and the inspiration for that upcoming project.

Featured - yay!

This week myself and my earrings have been featured in a couple places so, of course, I wanted to share them with you.

Dharma Designs featured me this past Tuesday on her blog with a little interview.

Also, today my Fiesta Earrings (the wooden bead pair) were featured on Wickedly Chic in their Daily Ditties section. You have to scroll down a little, but they are there.

Thanks for the support from all of you!

Sewing Accessory

How wonderfully cute and functional! I have been in the market for a great pincushion since I took up some sewing a few months ago - hopefully I be able to actually purchase one once the holidays have passed. This one is at the top of my list. It comes from a great little shop called the cherry stem. I highly recommend taking a few moments to check it out. Enjoy shopping!
